With Forestry Commission’s David Hooton, we did a test run of a deer impact assessment at Ilam woodland today.
With deer numbers growing across the country, it’s important we assess the impact they’ll have on our planting efforts.
This test run was the first step in understanding the potential impact deer will have on the woodland. We will now be able to develop strategies to protect our trees and manage our deer population.
Using what we learned from David, we’re going to assess our sites for deer presence so our partners can manage and protect their trees.
